Research Project

India and globalisation: Regional disparities, industrial development and inclusive growth (INGRID)

2010 - 2013 (Completed) Project number: 205128/S50

This project aim to develop cooperation between Indian and Norwegian researchers related to the social impact of globalisation and related international policies.

For a large sub-continent such as India, the interplay between domestic and international trade integration is crucial for the social impact of globalisation. One contribution to the project therefore aims at providing the first new evidence on the extent of domestic trade integration in India and its role concerning inequality and regional disparities. In addition, the contribution of services expansion and export growth to job creation and poverty reduction in India's states will be examined.
