Learning from Experience - International Police Reform (LfE)

The purpose of the project is to collect and analyze experience and insights of police officers who have been deployed oon international policing missions, to provide practical, experience-based recommendations for enhancing impact and effectiveness of future missions.

By gathering, systematizing and analyzing experiences and lessons identified by police officers having served in, or provided training towards, peace operations, stabilization missions and other assistance missions, this project will set up a mechanism for generating greater knowledge and identifying lessons learned concerning police in international missions. The purpose is to provide practical, experience-based recommendations for enhancing impact and effectiveness of future missions.

There are four main components of this project:

  • Other countries’ experiences in gathering information on police deployments
  • Experience of individual Norwegian police officers
  • Training
  • International police reform assistance
