Seminar based on the autobiography of Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, a senior former member of the Taliban and one of the most well-known faces of the movement following the 9-11 attacks.

"My Life with Taliban"
- based on the autobiography of Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, a senior former member of the Taliban.

Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef
was the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan in 2001 and one of the most well-known faces of the movement following the 9-11 attacks. In 2002 Zaeef was handed over to American forces in Pakistan, he spent four and a half years in prison (including several years in Guantánamo) before being released in 2005 without having been tried or charged with any offence. He now lives in Kabul.

Presentation of the speakers:

Felix Kuehn
travelled to Afghanistan first some 5 years ago, having spent several years in the Middle East. In 2006, he founded AfghanWire.com together with Alex Strick van Linschoten. He is currently working on a history of southern Afghanistan 1970-2001 together with Alex Strick van Linschoten. Felix holds a degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies (BA Arabic and Development Studies).

A graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies (BA Arabic and Persian), Alex Strick van Linschoten
first came to Afghanistan six years ago as a tourist. In 2006, he founded AfghanWire.com together with Felix Kuehn. He is currently working on a book and PhD at the War Studies Department of King’s College London, as well as the sequel to Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef's My Life With the Taliban
